Carpet fitters in Southampton — our own teams

Employed fitters, not subcontractors. Free measure, a fixed itemised quote before anything starts, and the old flooring taken away.

Who actually turns up

The fitters work for us

Plenty of carpet retailers sell you the carpet and then hand the fitting to whichever self-employed fitter is free that week. It's why fitting quality varies so much between two jobs from the same shop, and why "who do I complain to?" is such a common question.

Our fitters are on our payroll. They fit our carpet, to our standards, and if something isn't right you ring us and we come back — there's no argument about whose responsibility it was. After 30+ years fitting across Hampshire and Dorset, that accountability is the thing customers mention most in their reviews.

  • Employed fitting teams — not subcontracted out job by job
  • Free measure first — accurate survey before any price is given
  • Fixed itemised quote — underlay, grippers, doorbars, uplift and fitting all shown
  • Old flooring lifted and taken away — priced up front
  • Furniture moved — tell us what's in the room and we'll plan for it

How it goes

From phone call to finished floor

1. Free measure

We come to you, measure properly and look at how the rooms are actually used. Usually under an hour. We bring samples that suit the job rather than the whole range.

2. Fixed written quote

Itemised and normally back with you the same working day. Carpet, underlay, grippers, doorbars, uplift and fitting on separate lines, so you can see exactly what each part costs.

3. Fitted

We agree a date that suits you, plan the cuts to waste as little roll as possible, fit it, and take the old flooring and all the offcuts away with us.

Straight answers

Frequently asked questions

How much do carpet fitters charge?

Fitting is quoted per job rather than a flat rate per metre, because stairs, awkward shapes, doorways and furniture all change the work involved. It appears as its own line on your quote alongside the carpet, so you can see what the fitting itself costs rather than having it buried in a price per square metre.

Do I need to move the furniture?

Tell us what's in the room at the measure and we'll plan around it — our teams move ordinary furniture as part of the job. Very heavy or fragile items, and anything electrical that needs disconnecting, are worth flagging early so we can allow the time.

Will you take the old carpet away?

Yes, and it's priced on the quote rather than sprung on you afterwards. Uplift and disposal are quoted up front for every job.

Can you fit carpet I bought elsewhere?

Usually yes, though we'll want to see it first — we won't put our name to fitting something that's the wrong specification for the room or has been stored badly. Call us with the details.

How quickly can you fit?

For carpet we hold in Southampton, most jobs are fitted within a week or two of the measure. Landlords with a void to fill should say so when they call — we work to void dates where we can.

Do you fit outside Southampton?

Yes — Eastleigh, Winchester, Romsey, Totton, Chandler's Ford, Fareham, Portsmouth, the New Forest and into Dorset. See areas we cover.
